Trade It Up Tuesday: Stressed

24 Mar

Happy Tuesday guys! I can’t believe it has been over a week since I last posted but things have been nuts and I never had time to just sit down and write. But I’m back today and hoping to post at least twice this week. Here are a few things I would/wouldn’t trade about life lately:

I would not trade… fitting in as much relaxation time this past weekend as possible. We have been absurdly busy and I have been stressing quite a bit. I carved out a little chunk of time on Saturday to get a much needed pedicure with Alex and boy was it wonderful. We chatted and I got to just sit back and relax for what felt like the first time in forever. I continued that relaxation on Sunday when myself and Dan took a trip to Arrigoni winery with our wonderful friends Cheyne, Miko, and Robbie. We did a wine tasting and then enjoyed some wine and snacks at the winery before heading off to Priam vineyard to do another tasting. We finished up the day by visiting Jenna at work (I definitely partook in some retail therapy) and then having a delicious dinner at Krust. I felt MUCH better ending the weekend than I did at the beginning since I was quite overwhelmed to start.

It was literally a perfect Sunday

I would trade… the quality of my workouts lately. I have been quite frustrated with this because since we have been so busy, there hasn’t been as much time as I would have liked to be able to get a good workout in. Most of my workouts have been 25 minute Jillian Michael’s sessions which are definitely effective but I feel like I need a more full body workout which gives me that great soreness the next day. This week is a little bit more open as far as our schedule goes so I’m hoping to fit in some more productive workouts.

I would not trade… the delicious meals that we have been enjoying lately! A lot of our plans have involved dinner out with friends so we have had the pleasure of having some great meals. We dined at Bonefish Grill on Saturday evening with Brian and Natasha and it was amazing. I have honestly never had a bad meal there. Also, last Thursday, we attended a fundraiser for March of Dimes at TGI Friday’s and I had the best club sandwich ever. It totally surprised me and I am looking forward to the next time I get to enjoy that sandwich.

I would not trade… how wonderful Dan has been lately. Excuse my mushiness but I have been in super stress mode and he has been right there by my side, helping with whatever I need. Whether it’s wedding planning related or just helping keep the apartment tidy, he has been a total rock for me and I couldn’t be more grateful! I can’t believe our wedding is just over 6 months away. I can’t wait!!!

I love this picture and these two people :)

I want to end this post on that happy note since I’m trying my best to keep that positivity and not let the craziness of life get to me. I hope you all are doing the same and have a wonderful week 🙂

Wordless Weekend Recap: Foodie Edition

10 Mar

I don’t know about you guys but Daylight Savings Time is killing me. I am SO not used to getting up in the morning for work and having it still be dark outside. Oh well, I’m sure it will get easier by the end of the week. This past weekend was filled with delicious food including a Pinterest tasting party which was hosted by my friend Caitlin and myself at her beautiful home. Basically it involved each attendee bringing a recipe from Pinterest (or elsewhere) that was new to them. It was a total success and I think we will definitely be having another one in the future. Anyways, the pictures of the food (and other parts of the weekend) will speak louder than my rambling 😉

As you can tell, it was a food-filled weekend and those are obviously the best kind. Although I’m pretty sure my body was very thankful for last night’s workout after all of that food!

** I want to give a special thank you to all of you who read my “Fashion Friday” post as it was my most popular post that I have written to date! I appreciate all of the support and I look forward to sharing my next one with you guys in the beginning of May 🙂

Have a happy Tuesday!

Fashion Friday: Stitch Fix #1

6 Mar

Happy Friday guys! As I had mentioned the other day, I took today off of work, a much needed day to catch up on errands and relax. After I write this post, I will actually be heading over to a Bikram yoga class which I am a little nervous about since I haven’t been for over a year and a half but it should be very good. I have been extremely excited to write today’s post since I believe it’s my first ever “Fashion Friday” post and since it’s also about my first Stitch Fix delivery!

I came home on Wednesday night to this beautiful box sitting on my kitchen table! Although I was literally home for ten minutes before rushing out the door to other plans, I had to open it and see what I got. I had Dan take pics of me when I got home in each of the items.

I loveee getting packages in the mail!

Item # 1: Fun2Fun Myrtle V-Neck Blouse

Ironically I’m starting off with my favorite item overall but this is the order in which I tried them on. I absolutely love this shirt and will definitely be keeping it. I think it’s very flattering and comfy and I can’t wait for the weather to warm up to be able to wear it.

Item # 2:  BRIXON IVY Jarred Lace Detail Cap-Sleeve Blouse

This is most definitely my second favorite item. When I was just looking at the items, I thought it would be my overall favorite but I just loved the floral top above even more. The only thing that made me hesitant about this top is that it makes me look a little top heavy but I think it may have just been the cami I was wearing underneath it. I am keeping this shirt as well.

Item # 3: THML Colinda Sheer V-Neck Sweater

Now the reasoning behind my stylist providing this particular item was because I told her that I have been doing really well lately with working out and eating healthy and that I have been seeing results so she said this sweater would show those results off. When I took it out of the box, I didn’t think it would be anything special but I really love the way it fits and the sheer V-neck makes it a perfect going out shirt. The only issue is that I did buy a lot of sweaters this winter and I am really looking for things for spring and summer so I will not be keeping this sweater.

Item # 4: Level 99 Patrick Cropped Chino Pants

stitchfix1 pants

I really loved the way that these pants fit and the fact that they are NOT jeans is a huge plus. I honestly didn’t have much faith that my stylist would be able to find pants that would fit me based on my petite stature but she was totally spot on. These pants would look great in the spring and would encourage me to buy shoes other than flip flops. However, they are $108 and I could probably go shopping elsewhere and find at least two pairs for that amount of money so I will not be keeping them even though I really did love the way that they fit.

Item # 5: Octavia Kelli Half Lace Infinity Scarf

stitchfix1 scarf

I have a love-hate relationship with scarves since I always forget to wear them. This one is super cute and very light for springtime. I love the contrast between the mint linen and the lace fabric. That being said, I already have a ton of scarves that I barely ever wear so I will not be keeping this item for that reason.

So my overall verdict on Stitch Fix is that I absolutely loved it. It gave me something cool to look forward to and it was fun trying on all of the clothes. The clothes were a little expensive but I expected that based on other reviews. I am currently signed up for a delivery every other month and I think I will be sticking with that because I can’t justify spending that much money every month. For my first Fix, I think two of out of the five items being winners is definitely a success. With my $20 styling fee applied, I will be spending $98 total on the two shirts which is a lot but they are high quality and they fit perfectly. I hope you guys have enjoyed this review and I will be looking forward to sharing the next one I get!

WIAW: A Day in the Eats

4 Mar

Happy hump day! I’m super happy that it’s Wednesday because it’s practically my Friday. I have jury duty tomorrow which I’m actually excited about (I’m weird) and then I have Friday off. I figured I would share yesterday’s meals with you guys so you can see what I’ve been eating lately.

I eat the same breakfast every single day and surprisingly I’m not bored yet. It’s always a Yoplait Greek yogurt with whatever flavor of Pure Love granola that I have open that particular week. Yesterday it was a vanilla yogurt with gingerbread granola which was a very tasty combo that I will definitely be eating again.

In my transition over to my new job I also had to change the timing of my snacks and lunch. I usually bring the same snacks each day which include a bag of baby carrots and sliced cucumbers, a bag with one serving of Goldfish, and a banana. I ate these yesterday at around 11:00 but I was still starving for lunch by 12:30.

My lunches do tend to vary although the past two weeks I have stuck with sauteed chicken breast, black beans, and brown rice. It really fills me up and since I buy the rice that has some spices in it, I don’t find it to be flavorless or boring as rice usually is.

Last night’s dinner was a little out of the norm since we ended up going to Giovanni’s very last minute with our friend Sarah before she and Dan went to a fire department meeting. I had the most delicious honey BBQ chicken salad which I will definitely be ordering again.

Obviously ranch dressing on the side :)

Obviously ranch dressing on the side 🙂

After that insanely huge salad, I didn’t anticipate that I would be able to work out on such a full stomach. But I went home and let my stomach settle for a bit and got right to it! I did about 30 minutes of Jillian Michael’s Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and didn’t even get a cramp until the tail end which is when I knew that it was time to stop 🙂 I’m proud of myself for getting my exercise in even though I had a big dinner.

Not too shabby

Alrighty, time to get to work and get this day over with so I can be that much closer to my long weekend!
