Feeling Like a Winner & Stepping into Summer Reveal

28 Jun

Happy Tuesday! I’m excited to finally be feeling like myself again as that cold/allergies knocked me on my butt for the last few weeks. Even though I haven’t been feeling too hot, I have still managed to rally and have a TON of summer fun, hence the title of this post.

Last Monday, I came home feeling awful but was very excited to find a package from the lovely Meg waiting for me! I had participated in her “Stepping Into Summer Swap Reveal” which included a sandal swap and I was paired up with Meg! But not only were the sandals included in the package, but I found out that I had won her Southern Proper giveaway on her blog. It was a very nice surprise for a Monday. Thank you, Meg!

Southern Proper Sandals

I’m pretty sure I wore the sandals every single day this past weekend as they are SO versatile and comfy. Here’s a look at what I won from the Southern Proper giveaway:

We have been doing a lot of home-cooking lately and pretty much all of it has been on the grill since our kitchen is still filled with dust from the process of sanding the cabinets. We are absolutely loving it though, as grilling is one of our favorite things to do. Grilled pizza has been our specialty as of late, and last night we made a Grilled Prosciutto and Peach pizza topped with basil and truffle balsamic vinegar. It was incredible!

I hope you guys have a great Tuesday! I plan to be back again before the end of the week as my birthday is this coming Sunday and I took Friday off to celebrate.

What a Week… (Photo dump)

16 Jun

Happy Thursday all! Hope you’re all enjoying your day so far. Today is my Friday as I took tomorrow off because we are off to DC for the weekend for Dan’s cousin Lauren’s wedding. I have never been to DC before, besides driving through and I’m super excited for the festivities and to explore the city a bit.

This week has been full of ups and downs, between being sick with a nasty summer cold since last Friday and not getting a single workout in, to attending a great event at Mohegan Sun for New Belgium Brewing Company and eating some delicious meals (when I’ve had an appetite), it has been quite the week. Work has also been pretty busy so I’ve ended most days pretty exhausted.

Today I figured I would share a bit of a photo dump of the past couple of weeks since I haven’t had much time to write. As you will see from the pictures, we have been crazy busy but I really have been loving every minute of it (#tooblessedtobestressed). I’m looking forward to some fun and relaxation this weekend and I’m sure I will be back next week to tell you guys all about it!

As you can tell, life has been very busy and with summer coming up, I know that it will just continue but I’m very lucky to have a wonderful husband and great friends and family to share it with. I hope you guys have the best weekend and let me know if there are any must see spots in DC!

Memorial Day Weekend 2016

2 Jun

Happy happy Thursday! A three day week for me  (Monday AND Tuesday off) means that this week is flying by! I figured I would do a quick recap of all of the fun that was had this past weekend. It was truly filled with the best food, wine, and even better friends and family!

Friday evening was spent at Cassidy Hill Vineyard and then the Diamond with no pictures taken (oops!). I guess I was just really excited for the long weekend.

Saturday we attended a cookout at our friend Jim’s house where we had some delicious food and I enjoyed a couple cans of Lila Rosé which was really good, and I love that it comes in a can. We also attended a neighborhood pig roast with Dan’s parents and our friend Christian which was cool because we got to meet some of our new neighbors.

Sunday afternoon was spent at Still Hill Brewery with Robbie and Shivani with no pictures taken again. Sunday evening we were at Dan’s parents house for a little cookout and Alex joined us as well. We had a fun ride on their neighbor’s golf cart too!

I also took very few pictures on Monday as the parade was cancelled due to the weather but we still attended a cookout hosted by the fire department which was fun and we got to spend some time with our flower girl and ring bearer who we definitely don’t see enough!

I took Tuesday (in addition to Friday) off to give myself a mini-vacation. I spent the afternoon with Natasha at Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford which is absolutely breathtaking and a perfect way to spend a day off. We ended the day with dinner at our house with Brian and Natasha and we enjoyed salmon, grilled chicken, potato salad, and cole slaw. SO yummy!

It was quite a fun weekend and I was pretty tired by the time bedtime rolled around on Tuesday but it was well worth it. The busyness continues through this week and this weekend as we are heading to NJ for my cousin Maggie’s college graduation party which will be fun!

I have some fun posts in my head which I’m hoping to have the time to sit down and write so stay tuned 🙂
