Fashion Friday: Stitch Fix # 5

12 Feb

HAPPY FRIDAY! Sorry, I’m just a little bit excited about it. I’m currently at Daybreak Coffee Roasters sipping on some amazing Hazelnut french press coffee while I write as I took today off of work to have a “me” day which is something I think we all need from time to time. I really need to come here and blog more often! I finally caved and ordered another Stitch Fix and I think this is honestly the best one yet!

Here is an explanation in case you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix before: Stitch Fix is an online personal styling service. You pay a $20 styling fee up front and then you fill out an extensive styling profile which is sent over to a stylist who picks out five items (clothing, jewelry, scarves, accessories) which fit the personalized profile you have filled out. The items are sent to you and you try them on, with three days to decide on what you want. If you decide to keep anything, the $20 styling fee goes toward your purchase. If you purchase all five items, then you receive 25% off your entire order!

Stitch Fix # 5 picture 1

Item # 1: RD Style Keira 3/4 Sleeve Split Back Knit Top ($48)

As soon as I saw this one, I knew my stylist, Alison was totally in tune with exactly what I was looking for. I requested a top with a “party in the back” style and this one definitely delivered. I love the flowy fit which pairs well with the sexy back and navy is one of my favorite colors to wear.

Verdict: Kept. I mean, how could I not keep it? It is exactly what I asked for and I know I will wear it a lot, whether by itself or with a brightly colored tank top underneath.

Item # 2: Skies are Blue Dorian Embroidery Detail Blouse ($58)

I was a little bit hesitant when I saw this one because although it is flowy which is what I love, it’s a little bit out the box for me, style-wise. Dan thought the same thing but once I tried it on, he actually loved the fit and I really liked the way it photographed.

Stitch Fix # 5 picture 7

Verdict: Undecided. I have to really think about this one because I like the way it looks in the picture but I have to decide if I will really wear it that often. What do you guys think?

Item # 3: BRIXON IVY Pinson Drape Cardigan ($54)

This cardigan is one that I actually pinned to my Pinterest board and Alison mentioned that in her note to me! I am absolutely obsessed with this one and I love the pretty ruffles. It is so romantic and delicate and I want to wear it every single day of my life.

Stitch Fix # 5 picture 4

Verdict: Kept. This one was a keeper before I even tried it on. It is literally everything that I love in a top.

Item # 4: Just Black Dean Skinny Jean ($78)

I did request some colored jeans in my note to Alison and she delivered on that. With that being said, I’m having a tough time determining what I would wear with these for a top and they are ankle length (with a zipper on the bottoms) and petite which is something I have never worn before. I may just try to venture out today and find some colored jeans at a cheaper price with a little more length.

Stitch Fix # 5 picture 5 correct

Verdict: Undecided. This is another one that I’m going to have to ponder. If I end up buying everything else, it may be more cost effective to just get these too so we shall see.

Item # 5: Daniel Rainn Poppins Crochet Trim Blouse ($64)

I feel like Alison just totally understood me with this fix. Polka dots are one of my favorite prints to wear and I adore this top. I asked for some pieces that would transition into Spring and this is totally on point. I can wear it now with a cardigan over it and then by itself when the weather warms up (it’s currently 8 degrees so not sure when that is happening exactly).

Stitch Fix # 5 picture 6

Verdict: Kept. I love the detail on the shoulders as well as the polka dots and it really looks great so it’s a keeper. The price point is high but I have such a hard time finding nicer tops to wear to work and out on the weekends.

As you guys can tell, I’m in a big dilemma with this fix (#firstworldproblems). I don’t hate any of the items and there are a couple that I absolutely love. I don’t feel bad spending money on higher quality items because I know they will last me a long time. I’m definitely going to have to think over if I want to keep the pants and the purple top based on how often I will wear them. Please let me know what you guys think as opinions from an outside perspective are always helpful!

Fashion Friday: Stitch Fix # 4

13 Nov

Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my fourth Stitch Fix box! I had skipped the last few months due to lots of wedding expenses but I am very excited to be able to finally receive one again. It was awesome to be able to take these pictures with the new camera, although I wish it was light enough outside when I got home from work to take them outside, but I still think they look much better than iPhone photos. I think you guys will enjoy this one a lot!

Best part of the day! :)

Stitch Fix 3 #2

Item # 1: Just Black Jimmy Skinny Jean ($88)

Stitch Fix 3 #3

Verdict: Returned. As much as I did love the way these jeans looked, they were a bit outside of my price range. Also, I had just purchased two new pairs of jeans from Target for half the price.

Item # 2: 41Hawthorn Rosa Tab Sleeve V-Neck Blouse ($58)

Verdict: Returned. I had high hopes for this shirt as I have a few similar ones in that style. In the end, the cobalt color was just too much like a few other shirts that I have and for that price, just not worth it.

Item # 3: Bay to Baubles Damari Tassel Fringe Necklace ($34)

Verdict: Returned. I like how it looks in this picture but I honestly never wear long necklaces. I have quite a few of them and I tend to forget to wear them, kind of the same way I am with scarves.

At this point, I had a cute little visitor who wanted his picture taken so we decided he needed the spotlight for a minute. What a ham!

Item # 4: Market & Spruce Fierro Elbow Patch Crew Neck Sweater ($58)

Verdict: Returned. I honestly liked the look of this sweater and thought the arm patches were cute but I also have quite a few navy blue sweaters. Also, this was not Dan’s favorite as he didn’t really get the appeal of the elbow patches (such a guy!) 🙂

Item # 5: Everly Poppie Dress ($64)

Verdict: Kept! I had specifically requested something with scallops in this fix and my stylist Allison definitely delivered. We have a lot of weddings and events coming up in 2016 and I absolutely love it. With the $20 credit from my styling fee, $44 is not bad for a dress which is this adorable. I always have the toughest time dress shopping and this takes that trouble right out of my hands.

This fix was definitely much better than the last one and I could easy have seen myself keeping the whole box if I had liked one of the shirts just a little bit more (and if my husband wouldn’t kill me for spending so much $) :). I am already looking forward to my next fix and I’m hoping for some cute sweaters for winter.

I hope you guys have enjoyed and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Fashion Friday: Stitch Fix # 3

3 Jul

Happy Friday all! I’m in a great mood today because not only do I get to spend my birthday doing some fabulous things, including spending time with my favorite people and drinking lots of wine, but I also get to share my third Stitch Fix order with you guys! I purposely changed the delivery date of this fix (I love how flexible they are) to coincide with my birthday, mainly so I could justify a purchase as my birthday gift to myself 🙂

Such a good sight when I come home from work!

Taking a peek!

Taking a peek!

Item # 1: C.Luce Pyra Square Eyelet Dress ($84)

Verdict: Returned. In my comments to my stylist for this fix, I requested a white or ivory dress to potentially wear to my bridal shower which is next weekend (WHOA). I was very happy that my stylist obliged but to be honest, I just was not a fan of the way that this dress fit me. I don’t think I have ever tried anything on that was this type of eyelet material and I just wasn’t a fan. I think it looks good in the picture but I just was not very comfortable in it.

Item # 2: Pixley Messi Lattice Neckline Knit Top ($68)

Verdict: Returned. I keep going back and forth on this top. It fits really well and would be absolutely perfect for a night out, but the price is extremely high for a top and I keep thinking that I could easily go to Old Navy or Target and buy a few tops for that amount of money. This was Dan’s overall favorite but he agreed that the price was just too high.

Item # 3: 19 Cooper Marlow Crochet Back Detail Top ($48)

Verdict: Kept. As soon as I saw this top, I loved the color and the “party in the back” aspect of it. The first time I tried it on, I basically wrote it off because I wasn’t a huge fan of the super loose fit but when I tried it on again to take the picture, it started to grow on me. It really is a fun shirt and would also be great for a night out.

Item # 4: Dear John Lillie Cuffed Short ($58)

Verdict: Returned. I really wanted to like these shorts and I am in dire need of a good pair of shorts. However, I just could not get over the color as I am really not a big fan of black denim. I definitely think that they looked great on but I don’t see myself wearing them very often mainly because of the color.

Item # 5: Level 99 Esme Straight Leg Jean ($98)

Verdict: Undecided. As soon as I saw these, I was almost hesitant to try them on because I knew they would fit like a glove and that I would love them. I was totally right. My stylist, Harley, was right on point and these jeans fit perfectly and they are petite so the length was also on point. The price, however, was not on point. I have never even come close to spending that much on a pair of jeans but I have also never even tried on a pair which fit this well and I’m completely torn. I’m going to try them on again although I’m leaning towards sending them back and trying to find a pair elsewhere for cheaper.

This fix was a slight disappointment based on the success of my previous fixes, especially since I mentioned I was really into maxi dresses and maxi skirts and I didn’t get any of those. I’m hoping that my next fix will work out better and I did appreciate the two fun tops which I did ask for.

I hope you guys have enjoyed and also that you have a fabulous, fun and safe Fourth of July!

Fashion Friday: Stitch Fix # 2

1 May

Happy happy Friday all! This week definitely flew by for me and I’m looking forward to a fun weekend ahead! Dan and I are doing a free Bikram Yoga class tomorrow morning for our local studio’s open house which is great because individual classes are quite expensive. We also have Alex’s housewarming party tomorrow afternoon/evening and I am absolutely thrilled to celebrate her first home with her and all of our friends. I’m pumped to share today’s post because it is a review of my second Stitch Fix delivery!

I did realize that the first time I did a Stitch Fix review, I failed to really explain it well. Stitch Fix is an online personal styling service. I spy polka dots!

I spy polka dots!

I came home to the box on Wednesday night and I was thrilled! I didn’t have time to try anything on until last night but I did take a quick peek and I knew I was in trouble. I did set myself on a budget for this month’s box as we have a lot of wedding related expenses coming up and I need to save money for that.

Item # 1: Zad Adrianna Circle Bib Necklace ($34)

Ignore the obnoxious selfie :)

Ignore the obnoxious selfie 🙂

Verdict: Returned. Although I did like this necklace better than I thought I would when I took it out of the box, it’s just not my style. I’m really into colorful statement pieces (especially for spring/summer) and plus I have an absurd amount of necklaces right now.

Item # 2: Liverpool Madonna Black Leggings ($78)

My height generally works against me

My height generally works against me

Verdict: Returned. These would have been great if they weren’t way too long and the waist was also a little high as well. It made me feel like I should be six inches taller. I will be on the look out for a pair of leggings like these though because they are super stretchy and comfy.

Item # 3: Eight Sixty Addie V-Neck Dress ($88)

Gotta love a little black dress

Gotta love a little black dress

Verdict: Returned. This was a very tough decision but I knew that I could only keep one item this month and although this dress fit like a glove, I just wasn’t completely sure how much I would wear it. For the high price point, I did not want it to be another dress that just sits in my closet.

Item # 4: Pixley Jakobe Chevron Print Maxi Dress ($78)

Paired this with one of my favorite Lia Sophia necklaces

Paired this with one of my favorite Lia Sophia necklaces

Verdict: Kept. Those of you who know me will know exactly why I chose this dress. It fits perfectly which is such a surprise for a maxi dress as they are almost always too long. It’s chevron which is my absolute favorite pattern. I can see myself pairing this with a pair of wedges that I just purchased and a jean jacket. I am very excited to wear this!

Item # 5: Pixley Brook Dot Print Tie-Waist Top ($44)

Polka dots are a definite obsession of mine

Polka dots are a definite obsession of mine

Verdict: Returned. This was also a tough decision, especially after looking at this picture. It definitely looks better on me than it felt which is pretty unusual. It was a little bit big under the arms and it had a tail on the back that you can’t really see which made it a little bit awkward. I am regretting not getting it a little bit because it does look cute but it’s also a little pricey.

As soon as I saw the prices for this Fix, I knew that based on my budget, I was most likely only going to keep one item. I’m really happy with my choice of the maxi dress and I know I will wear it a lot over the summer. I’m already anxious for my next one and I’m hoping to be able to keep more than one item. I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed writing it! 🙂 have a great weekend!

Things I’m Loving Lately # 3

22 Apr

Happy Wednesday guys! I have been feeling under the weather lately with a pretty nasty cough so I wasn’t up for much more than laying on the couch. I’m feeling a little bit better today and wanted to share a few things that I have been really loving as of late.

  • Time spent with delightful friends (paired with some wine and the shining sun)

This past Saturday we had plans with Brian and Natasha to visit Cassidy Hill Vineyard. We all did a wine tasting and then bought a couple of bottles to enjoy outside in the most beautiful weather that we have had yet this year. We also brought a large assortment of appetizers ranging from several different types of cheeses to Natasha’s caprese salad and melon wrapped in prosciutto (freaking amazing). It was a relaxing and fun day that was much needed.

We made a pretty good dent in it too!

They have SO many good wines

I bought these on a complete whim while grocery shopping this past Sunday. I finally had one for dessert last night and it was surprisingly delicious. I didn’t expect that a candy bar which was only 130 calories would be so tasty but it was very yummy. It also did not give me that heavy feeling that eating a regular candy bar usually does, as the truffle filling was very light, almost like a mousse.

Because what is life without chocolate?

Because what is life without chocolate?

This video is another winner! I bought a couple more of her videos on Amazon last week and this was the first one that I tried. It was similar to the 30 Day Shred in that it involved the 3-2-1 system (3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, 1 minute abs) and it didn’t take up a lot of my time. It was a great workout and will definitely come in handy now that softball season is starting and I won’t have as much time to devote to exercise.

I WISH!

  • Spring and summer clothes

I have been going crazy lately buying all kinds of new clothes for spring and summer. Looking ahead, I know that I’m going to need a ton of cute tops and dresses for the fun activities I have planned for the summer (particularly all of the wedding-related things). I picked up this dress from Old Navy in three different colors/prints since it was on sale for $12 on Saturday (and I had a gift card), as well as this cute jean jacket, this top, and also this top.  I have also been getting a lot of very inexpensive tops from Consignment Originals, which is where my girl Jenna works 🙂

Well that was a nice little mix of food, fitness, and fashion which doesn’t happen too often with my posts! Have a great day!
